The Team

The New Westminster Law Courts team is a diverse and collaborative group serving the largest integrated court location in the province. With over 52 regular full-time staff this well-established team supports both courtroom and registry operations. Court and Registry Clerks play a vital role in providing access to justice and administrative support working closely with the judiciary Crown counsel defence counsel and other court users. The Role
As a Bilingual Court Clerk you will play a vital role in supporting the Provincial and Supreme Courts ensuring fairness and accessibility in legal processes. Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing legal documents recording court proceedings and managing exhibits while providing seamless administrative and registry support. This position values equity diversity and inclusion seeking candidates fluent in French and English who can serve diverse communities across British Columbia with professionalism and cultural sensitivity. Travel throughout the province is required to support French and bilingual trials making adaptability and collaboration essential.


Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED); preferably supplemented with courses in business or public administration OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Two (2) years office experience; OR one (1) year office experience and a minimum of one (1) year education/training in a legal related field.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience/training in keyboarding data entry word processing and standard computer applications.
  • Advanced experience speaking writing and reading French and English. Must be fluent in French and English.
  • Must have a minimum of 40 WPM typing speed.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Courses in business or public administration.
  • Experience with Court Clerk Desktop (CCD) JUSTIN and/or CEIS.
  • Experience delivering customer service.
  • One (1) year experience/training in a court registry.

Note: Different combinations of relevant experience education and/or training may result in an applicant meeting these qualifications.

Provisos:

  • Must pass enhanced security screening checks
  • Union membership is required
  • Must be willing to attend and complete relevant training programs
  • Must be able to travel including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographical areas including circuit court locations
  • Must have reliable transportation and/or be willing to travel with others.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the Province of British ColumbiaMust be able to travel throughout the Province of British Columbia including areas with no taxi/rideshare services.
  • May be required to work flexible hours including varied shifts and overtime on short notice
