THE ROLE
Position Type: New Position
We are seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our Accounting team. Reporting to the Billing and Accounts Manager the Accounting Clerk supports the day-to-day financial operations of the firm by ensuring that financial transactions are accurately recorded processed and reported in accordance with firm policies and accounting standards.
This role requires strong attention to detail sound organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven professional services environment.
- Participate in month-end billing and close processes including but not limited to review of monthly time entries preparation of prebills coordination of partner and associate review of prebills implementation of revisions based on feedback finalization of invoices and distribution of invoices to clients;
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable;
- Process invoices cheques and electronic payments;
- Follow up on accounts receivable and respond to client inquiries;
- Interact with management clients and vendors;
- Ensure administrative and accounting compliance with firm policies and standards;
- Prepare and interpret financial summaries and provide daily weekly and monthly reports to management;
- Completing banking errands as required;
- Assist in develop and maintain financial policies and procedures that promote sound financial management practices and internal controls;
- Maintain an organized filing system for invoices reimbursements and other financial records;
- Support ad hoc accounting initiatives and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures
- Familiarity with legal billing processes and terminology is an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 particularly Excel skills (e.g. lookups pivot tables reporting functions)
- Experience with accounting and document management systems (e.g. Soluno iManage) is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
