JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager the Medical Technologist completes appropriate laboratory testing. The Medical Technologist must demonstrate the ability to work with neonates infants children adults and geriatric persons. He/She participates in performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Minimum knowledge skills and abilities: Currently registered MT or eligible for registration ASCP or equivalent. Prior experience preferred. New hires may be trained into the position. Must be willing to meet the on-call requirements of the position including the ability to respond to the facility within the required time frames while on call for the facility. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required. New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Strong written and verbal skills. Basic computer knowledge. Basic clerical skills. Ability to communicate with tact and professionalism. Expresses ideas in a clear creative and succinct manner. Flexibility for shift rotation within the department.
