Job Summary

  • This position is onsite Nike WHQ
  • This will be a backfill for an FTE maternity leave
  • Degree required Bachelors minimum
  • PMP certification nice to have (or another certification that proves that ETW can manage complex work)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a materials development role
  • Top must-have skills include the following:
    • Textile development background (experience creating fabrics used for outerwear bodywear etc.)
    • Trim experience - less important than the textile development background but still required (developing zippers elastics patches etc.)
    • Organized detail-oriented
    • Experience with the following tools: PCX Miro Smartsheets PPS
  • Desired soft skills:
    • Good culture fit/attitude (work is very fast-paced and dynamic)
    • Comfortable working in ambiguity
    • Self aware
    • Professionalism
  • Candidates who have experience in developing performance materials (even swim-related) or have worked with Nike or a similar brand in the past will be prioritized for shortlisting
  • The main focus of the leave coverage will be stepping in to work on seasonal material development for Spring/Summer 27 and Fall/Holiday 27. This will include kicking off development seeing everything through connecting with design partners and suppliers having technical knowledge to know how material shows up on garment and moving the material through product testing.

WHO YOULL WORK WITH

You will report into the Global Apparel Materials Team (GLAM) and support our partners within the brand including key collaborations with Innovation Design Product Merchandising Technical Development Sustainability Sourcing and Manufacturing. You will work effectively within the materials team to ensure a thoughtful approach to developing new textiles and prints prioritized in collaboration with cross-functional partners.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Were looking for an innovative and curious Senior Materials Developer to join our Global Apparel Materials team. If you have a passion for Textiles Trims and Prints this role would be a great fit! The right candidate will use their materials knowledge strategic thinking and collaborative skills to deliver creative material solutions for a wide range of end uses.

  • Bachelors degree in Textile Engineering Apparel Science/ Design or related field
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in material development and/or product development
  • Team player attitude and strength in building positive working relationships
  • Expertise in Textile Trim and Print development
  • Connection to trend and consumer insights. Ability to be creative and technical.
  • Understanding of design and development process from inception through final adoption
  • Proactive problem solving and information seeking-skills
  • Ability to build a strategic plan/roadmap around key projects and execute to completion
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to move with agility through ambiguity
  • Exceptional communication skills including strong presentation skills
  • Experience communicating and collaborating with global partners
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group
  • Computer skills including Microsoft office applications and Product Data Management. Smartsheet and Tableau a plus

You will partner with Design and Product Management to define create and deliver textiles palettes with a focus on aesthetics performance and quality. You will provide a pulse on industry direction and bring new innovations to life. A strong development background in textiles trims and prints as well as an understanding of apparel product creation will ensure delivery of great product for our athletes*
