  • HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT III - CONFIDENTIAL
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and skill in operation of common office equipment including but not limited to computer and wordprocessing equipment typewriter calculator and copiers
    2. Training and experience in specialized secretarial or clerical work inï½cluding experience in a human resources operation; experience in office orï½ganization andmanagement
    3. Ability to work effectively with staff and public and respond apï½propriately in situations requiring specialized knowledge tact and good judgment
    4. Ability to maintain the security of sensitive confidential and privileged information
    5. Knowledge of District policies and procedures and California Educaï½tion Code sections relating to human resources; ability to interpret and apply applicablehuman resources policies procedures laws rules and regulations
    6. Ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to use independï½ent judgment and train and supervise work of others
    7. Ability to plan and conduct complex clerical operations requiring efï½fective accountability and controls
    8. Ability to organize write and prepare reports letters and legal docuï½ments of professional quality; ability to make accurate arithmetical computations and preparestatistical documentation
    9. Must pass required tests

    REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent Human Resources

    JOB GOAL: To assist in the effective administration of the district human resources program by providing clerical secretarial and technical support services


    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Provides secretarial support to Assistant Superintendent Human Resources; performs variety of responsible secretarial/technical duties related to districthuman resources programs; composes correspondence from brief notes and oral instructions; types letters requisitions reports conï½tracts bulletins jobdescriptions employment verifications resoluï½tions board materials and miscellaneous legal documents; files answers phones schedules appointments andmeetings operates ofï½fice machines
    2. Provides information and assistance to staff and public requiring use of initiative independent judgment and knowledge of human resources policies regulationsand guidelines
    3. Assists human resources administrators in scheduling gathering information preparing documents taking notes and other necessary preparations for hearingsnegotiations evaluations and other meetings of highly confidential nature
    4. Receives and processes personnel requisitions and maintains related records
    5. Assists in planning and scheduling of recruitment activities including placement office contacts travel arrangements document preparaï½tion and maintenance ofrecords and files
    6. Provides orientation and receives required documentation for new employees including fingerprinting medical reviews certification etc.
    7. Assists in developing and monitoring department budget; performs routine bookkeeping tasks associated with position; conducts invenï½tories of supplies andequipment and maintains related records
    8. Checks prepares assembles and tabulates materials and information from various sources to produce miscellaneous records and reports as needed
    9. Gathers materials and prepares responses to subpoenas and other requests for personnel records
    10. Performs other related duties as assigned

    SALARY: $31.96ï½ $49.09per hour

    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Districts Improvement of ProfessionalServices handbook Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargainingagreements when applicable
    NEW PROBATIONARY EMPLOYEES AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES WHO BECOME PROBATIONARY UPON RECLASSIFICATION:

    A new employee or a permanent employee who is changed to a new classification shall serve a probationary period which shall not exceed six (6) months of duty time exclusive of leaves of absence or other absences. During this probationary period the employee must meet the required standards of performance to be recommended for permanent status in the classification. A probationary classified service employee may be terminated from the probationary classification at any time without cause without right of appeal or hearing before the Board of Education. Pursuant to Education Code section 45113 a permanent employee who accepts a promotion and fails to complete the probationary period for that promotional position shall be employed in the classification from which he or she was promoted.


    REQUIRED TEST:

    All applicants must have passed the clerical test within the last three (3) years of the deadline.
    • Clerical test will be offered upon selection.

    Copies of required certificates transcripts or diplomas may be submitted with application. District may require that originals be presented for verification prior to employment. Please check with Human Resources regarding acceptable documents. For positions requiring college course work official transcripts will be required upon employment.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operators license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
