Summary
The Senior Accountant is an important member of the TPS USA Arlington Plant Finance Department and will be a key partner to the Controller in the daily activities in the department with analyzing and providing key reporting to the plant management team. This position is highly interactive with operations leadership as well as Corporate Finance. This is an on-site position reporting to the Controller.
Position Description
Responsible for the general ledger and all accompanying journal entries financial statements monthly reporting reconciliations and maintenance of files. Files tax reports and reconciles information relating to the filings. Responsible for inventory costing actual cost analysis analysis of variances from budget/forecasts physical inventory execution costing and analysis. Responsible for development and implementation of improvements to existing systems including the implementation of new versions of the ERP software attendance reporting and payroll processing techniques. Responsible for all local payroll and attendance reporting requirements maintenance of related files and recording of shop scrap information. Assist the Controller in product line review ER review and development of departmental budgets and overhead rates.
Principal duties / Responsibilities:
Maintain general ledger and financial reporting
Maintain payroll and attendance files
Develop annual plan schedules & overhead rates
Coordinate conduct and analyze physical inventories
Develop & implement new systems and system improvements
Analyze product costs and variances from budget/forecasts.
Process and bill of material analysis and review
Review and input scrap into system
Backup AP / AR
Independently prepare and analyze key daily weekly and monthly reports/dashboards
Prepare and review certain monthly closing journals reconciliations and supplemental data
Supports the monthly close process including the preparation and review of key reports utilized in balance sheet and income statement analysis.
Complete monthly variance analysis of Financial results to determine accuracy incorrect costs and required correcting JEs.
Complete daily/monthly over-time revenue recognition calculations and adjust POC% as appropriate.
Provide support for local operations teams related to monthly and weekly KPI tracking ensuring data accuracy and timeliness
Ensure Capital projects are closed and tracked properly
Prepare Percentage-of-Completion report for certain projects
Review and approve invoices through the automated invoicing system
Oversee with support from plant controller cycle counting activities and physical inventory control per company standards
Assist Controller in forecast and budgeting processes
Verifies financial data and identifies and investigates irregularities.
Utilize continuous improvement skills to drive improvements in financial reporting.
Provides data as requested to internal and external auditors for the plant finance department.
Provides back up for the Controller in standard reporting and analysis responsibilities.
Performs tasks in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Qualifications:
Minimum bachelors degree in accounting or a finance field required.
Minimum 4 years experience in operational accounting required preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong analytical capabilities
Excellent communications skills
Fluent in computer use of MRP or SAP software packages.
Fluent using Microsoft Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook and Access.
Experience with using Power BI
