Main Purpose of Job
The Maryland Department ofCommerce is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Art Grants& Project Manager within the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC).
POSITION DUTIES
This position isprimarily responsible for managing public art grant programs and projects forMSAC. Incumbent reports to the Public Art Program Director and works with otherstaff in the management and administration of public art programs and projectsas well as providing technical assistance professional development programevaluation and collection management tasks. The position supports theadministration of the Public Art Across Maryland Grant Programs by: providingtechnical support to organizations and independent artists to develop grantapplications and strengthen the feasibility of local public art projects;assisting in managing projects of the Maryland Public Artwork Commissionscapital buildings program working closely with state user agency partners andcontracted artists; and assists with collection management by maintaining anupdated inventory of public artwork on projects that have received statefunding.
The selected employee will possess excellent interpersonal skills towork with high level public and private sector officials and maintain effectiveworking relationships; excellent written and oral communication skills; havethe ability to work independently; handle multiple concurrent and highpriority projects; knowledgeable of the trendspractices related to public art. Experience in administration of grants contractsand/or public programs and projects required; experiencemanaging project timelines and coordinating schedules among multiple parties aswell as Proficiency with Google Suite (Google Mail Docs Sheets Slides)and/or other relevant software.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
- 30 college credit hours for up to twoyears of the required experience involving staff work using independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans policies rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for requiredexperience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicantswho possess the following preferred qualification(s).Include clear and specific information on your application regardingyour qualifications.
- Bachelors degree or commensurate experience in visual arts art history urban design or arts administration.
- Three (3) years experience in arts-based administration.
- Experience with a public arts program that included project management.
- Direct work experience with artists committees of multiple stakeholders to include community organizations design professionals fabricators and/or contractors.
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
