Position Summary
Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) the states only public polytechnic university invites nominations and applications for the position of Department Chair Applied Computing & Geomatics within the College of Engineering Technology and Management ( ETM ). This is an exciting opportunity for an academic leader to guide a department at the forefront of Oregon Techs mission advancing applied learning research and workforce innovation across information technology cybersecurity artificial intelligence and geospatial science. As Oregons Polytechnic University Oregon Tech prepares graduates to lead where knowledge meets practice. The College of Engineering Technology and Management its largest continues to expand its reach and reputation through growing enrollment new interdisciplinary programs and national recognition for academic quality and applied research. The Department of Applied Computing & Geomatics anchors Oregon Techs leadership in digital and spatial technologies that power the modern world. Students master the tools that secure networks manage data and map the environment skills that drive decision-making and innovation across industries. The department offers programs in Cybersecurity Information Technology and Geomatics with the latter recognized nationally for excellence through the NCEES $25000 Education Award. Oregon Tech also launched the states only online ABET -accredited Surveying program expanding access to working professionals statewide. Through a $709000 HECC Workforce Ready Grant the department is partnering with the Technology Association of Oregon and Link Oregon to upskill professionals and strengthen Oregons digital infrastructure. The next Chair will lead during a period of strategic growth and innovation aligning programs in Cyber/IT Geomatics and the forthcoming Artificial Intelligence degree to meet employer demand and prepare graduates for the data-driven workforce of tomorrow. Priorities include advancing accreditation readiness expanding online quality at scale growing enrollment and retention and deepening collaborations with industry and government partners. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative student-centered academic leader who brings technical breadth online leadership experience and a record of innovation in applied computing or geospatial science. Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications Experience with ABET or computing-related accreditation and program assessment. Demonstrated success in online program quality management and multi-modal instruction. Evidence of effectiveness in faculty recruitment mentoring and retention. Success in grant writing sponsored projects or externally funded research. Familiarity with AI cybersecurity data science and geospatial technologies and their application in workforce and research settings.
