The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) isdedicated to transforming young lives creating safer communities andfostering equitable systems. We are seeking passionate individuals for the roleof Community Detention Administrator IV of CommunityDetention (CD) so come join our team and make a meaningful impact onyouth and the community at DJS!
This position isresponsible for providing administrative supervision of the regional CDoperations. This includes the Community Field Operations the Command Centerand the GPS/CDRR Rapid Response Teams. The Community Detention Administratorwill work directly with the Executive Directors of Community Operations toensure that the departmental goals are being met and that the CD and GPSstandard operating procedures are carried out.
The CD Programhouses two very critical functions: providing direct supervision andsurveillance for youth court ordered into an alternative to detention andplaced on home detention; and youth requiring GPS supervision to trackmovements 24/7 in the community. Both facets of the operation are directlyrelated to public safety. Requiring the CD Administrator to work closely withtheir team to ensure compliance requiring periods of On-Call Administrative duties due to the 24/7 operationalneeds.
The position requires theincumbent to be available 24/7 to respond to EM/GPS needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:Six years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degreefrom an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Masters degree from an accredited college or universityfor five years ofthe requiredexperience.
may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules regulations policy procedures and processes or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Thepreferred candidate for this position will possess the followingqualifications:
- Six years of experience in Community Detention Operations.
- Two years of planning/supervisory experiencein a 24/7 operational environment.
- Exercises reliability and flexibility in meeting staffingscheduling and attendance requirements within a mission-critical or publicsafety setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with theability to effectively engage stakeholders and clearly convey operationalexpectations and policy requirements.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
