This position will supervise assigned subordinate Probation and Parole Officers--Juvenile within a district office. Providing support to lower-level officers as needed.
Three years of experience as a probation or parole officer or in counseling psychology social work education criminal justice or administrative services plus one of the following:
1. Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement
2. Three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply)
3. Six years of full-time experience in any field
4. A bachelors degree
OR
Two years of experience as a probation or parole officer or in counseling psychology social work education criminal justice or administrative services plus a masters degree in counseling psychology social work education business administration public administration or a criminal justice field.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
Possession of a current Louisiana drivers license.
This position may require the incumbent to handle and carry firearms.
Successful completion of the Corrections Juvenile Services-Agent Curriculum.

Job Duties:
Conduct semiannual performance evaluations; maintain documentation of staff performance attendance and disciplinary actions; provide ongoing supervisory conferences counseling and feedback to improve productivity and professionalism.
Assign and coordinate workloads and schedules approve leave ensure adequate office coverage and support daily operations including court appearances staff meetings and transportation of juveniles as needed.
Observe staff in court and field settings to assess interactions with youth families and partner agencies providing guidance to ensure high standards of conduct and service delivery.
Review and approve staff correspondence service plans assessments and court recommendations for accuracy quality and compliance with policies and reporting guidelines.
Identify training needs; plan and deliver staff development activities; lead case staffings to determine appropriate treatment placements; and conduct internal audits of supervision programs with findings reported to the Regional Manager.
Collaborate with courts law enforcement state agencies and service providers to develop youth programs; participate in hiring and first-level disciplinary actions; and serve as Acting Regional Manager when needed maintaining confidentiality and effective communication.

Compensation:The Probation and Parole Supervisor - Juvenile has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $2304.00 Biweekly ($28.80 hourly).
