@Orchard is supporting a growing Federal contract with proven capabilities in cybersecurity. We are seeking a skilled Systems Security Engineer to be proposed for a new project supporting the Navy. This role will be based out of Dahlgren VA and will be responsible for administering and supporting daily operational requirements of computer network systems including workstations file servers and web servers. If selected you will be asked to sign a letter of intent to join the team upon program award.
As the Systems Administrator you will:
- Handle installation of hardware software systems upgrades network accounts network security and web page design interface and updates and local system design documentation.
- Maintain troubleshoot and implement network security tools including firewalls anti-virus and intrusion detection services.
- Train staff on software applicable to position assist customers with information technology monitor system configuration (hardware and software) and provide instruction on computers and applications.
- Provide computer and network operation and maintenance hardware installations software installations reconfigurations diagnostic testing systems analysis troubleshooting and repair of specified IT networking resources.
- Install configure test operate maintain and manage network hardware (e.g. switches routers cables and protective distribution systems (PDS)) software and operating systems that permit sharing of information across full spectrum of transmissions using all media.
- Implement and operate network services and systems to include hardware and virtual environments.
- Provide system and network administration support including installation operations maintenance disaster recovery and administration of standalone workstations/server systems networked workstations/server systems and LANs.
- Oversee installation implementation and support of system components.
- Diagnose and repair faulty system hardware.
- Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and Industry best practices.
- Advise senior management on all risk levels and security posture.
- Ensure cyber security inspections tests and reviews are coordinated for network environment.
Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of system management experience.
- Bachelors level degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering Computer Science or Information Systems desired but not required.
- Requires IAT Level II certification
- Must maintain a Secret clearance / T3 investigation and be a U.S. citizen.
Required Network Infrastructure Expertise:
- Computer networking concepts protocols and security methodologies
- Local Area Network/Wide Area Network architecture and pathways
- Bandwidth management principles and techniques
- Network traffic flow (TCP/IP and OSI model)
- Performance tuning tools and techniques
- Remote access technologies
- Virtual Private Network (VPN) security
- Network protocols (TCP/IP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Domain Name System (DNS) directoryservices)
- Common network tools (e.g. ping traceroute nslookup)
- File system implementations (e.g. New Technology File System (NTFS) File Allocation Table (FAT) Extended File System (EXT)) Virtualization technologies and virtual machine management

- IT security principles and methods (e.g. firewalls demilitarized zones (DMZs) encryption)
- Network security architecture concepts (topology protocols defense-in-depth)
- Cybersecurity principles threats and vulnerabilities
- National and international cybersecurity laws regulations and policies
- Organizational IT user security policies (e.g. account management access control)
- Data security standards (PII PCI PHI)
- System administration network and operating system hardening techniques
- Software-based computer protection tools (e.g. firewalls antivirus antispyware)
- Knowledge of transmission records (Bluetooth Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Infrared (IR) transmission WiFi etc.) and jamming techniques
