We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Medical Assistant I for a short-term contract assignment in Brooklyn NY. This role supports both clinical and administrative operations in an outpatient healthcare setting and requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced patient-focused environment.
Clinical & Technical Support
Perform clinical technical and service tasks to support patient care
Conduct EKGs laboratory testing pulmonary function tests (PFTs) and audiometry as ordered
Prepare patients for examinations and record vital signs medical history medications allergies height and weight
Perform quality control and comply with CLIA OSHA and universal precaution standards
Provide discharge instructions and communicate test results per physician direction with proper documentation
Documentation & Compliance
Ensure accurate documentation of treatments patient communications lab logs referrals and daily equipment checks
Maintain clean organized exam rooms and ensure adequate supply levels
Administrative & Front Desk Support
Greet patients and visitors professionally and courteously
Register patients and update demographic and insurance information
Schedule appointments and manage referrals
Retrieve file and maintain medical records
Answer phones professionally manage messages and communicate urgent patient issues to providers
Balance ledger sheets manage payments and maintain responsibility for the cash box
Maintain front desk and waiting area organization
Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor with patients families staff and visitors
Communicate effectively with providers and care team members
Adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Medical Assistant certification or minimum 2 years of relevant work experience preferred
Strong computer skills and accurate data entry abilities
Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
High school diploma or GED (required)
BLS certification (required)
Medical Assistant certification from an approved program or 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant
