This is a remote position.
The Director of Robotics & Technical Development leads the design execution and evolution of all robotics/engineering focused initiatives at HARTS Haiti Inc. This role ensures that robotics becomes a core driver of youth innovation technical literacy and community engagement across the country.
The Director is responsible for developing robotics & Engineering curricula managing hardware and equipment training instructors coordinating robotics challenges and supporting the Maker Lab and Innovation Playground with technical expertise. They guide the technical vision for the national Robo-Challenge oversee the integration of robotics into the Education Innovation Café (EIC) and ensure that all robotics programming such as the Mobile Maker Lab and Innovation hub meets global standards for safety accessibility and learning quality.
This role requires a strong blend of engineering knowledge teaching ability program design experience and team leadership. The Director ensures that young people not just in major cities but across underserved areas gain hands-on access to robotics electronics coding and engineering systems.
They collaborate closely with the Director of Education & Curriculum Development and Director of Programs to ensure alignment and smooth execution of all robotics initiatives.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Robotics Curriculum Design & Content Development
Develop age-appropriate robotics curricula for EIC MML and Innovation Playground.
Create structured pathways from beginner to advanced robotics.
Design lab manuals lesson plans tutorials and technical resources.
Integrate coding sensors electronics physical computing and engineering basics.
Ensure materials are accessible for Haitian youth and adaptable to local contexts.
Program Execution & Technical Leadership
Provide technical leadership for robotics activities across all programs.
Support the execution of robotics components within EIC and Maker Lab sessions.
Oversee student prototyping and engineering challenges in the Innovation Playground.
Ensure all equipment is safely managed updated and properly maintained.
Robo-Challenge Development & Leadership
Lead the design of the national Robo-Challenge competition.
Create rules evaluation criteria scoring systems and hardware specifications.
Train school coaches and instructors on competition requirements.
Coordinate regional qualifiers and national championship logistics.
Manage technical volunteers judges and event-day operations.
Staff Training & Technical Capacity Building
Train robotics instructors coaches and volunteers.
Create upskilling plans for new facilitators and technical mentors.
Lead technical workshops for teachers from partner schools.
Build a long-term technical talent pipeline for Harts robotics program
Equipment & Lab Management
Select robotics kits electronics sensors and engineering tools.
Manage procurement inventory repairs and upgrades.
Ensure proper lab safety protocols and equipment handling.
Oversee Maker Lab technical tools (3D printers soldering stations micro controllers).
Partnership Development (Technical & Educational)
Develop partnerships with robotics organizations tech companies and universities.
Identify opportunities for hardware donations sponsorships and technical collaborations.
Represent Harts at robotics conferences STEM summits and innovation events.
Monitoring Evaluation & Program Reporting
Track participation rates student progress and skill-level improvements.
Collect feedback from teams instructors and schools.
Prepare technical reports and contribute to organizational impact reports.
Implement continuous improvement strategies for robotics programs.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelors degree or equivalent required (Robotics Mechanics Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering STEM Education or related field).
Experience
1-3 years in robotics education engineering design or technical program leadership.
Experience working with youth schools or STEM learning environments.
Experience coaching robotics teams or managing competitions (FIRST VEX Lego Robotics Arduino-based systems etc.) strongly preferred.
Experience designing or delivering hands-on engineering or prototyping activities.
Prior experience with maker spaces labs or innovation hubs is an advantage.

Experience 1-3 years of progressive experience in program management nonprofit management education initiatives youth leadership or innovation programming. Experience working with schools communities or youth-focused programs. Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams. Demonstrated success delivering complex programs with multiple stakeholders.
