A Brief OverviewReviews charity applications; verifies demographic and financial data; counsels patients regarding application and approval/denial status; processes charity applications in accordance with all applicable guidelines and timeliness.
What you will do
- Protect the legal and financial standing of the organization by appropriately determining financial responsibility and arranging payment from patients with any outstanding balances.
- Counsels patients who cannot meet their financial obligations and determines appropriate referral strategy to secure financial assistance for patients.
- Prepare and process correspondence for patients who request assistance on their hospital/clinic accounts which includes notifying them of the decision regarding the disposition of their accounts. Reviews accounts for financial information and income verifications to determine the category of assistance needed and whether the criteria are met. Meet requirements for various internal and external charity programs as well as alternative methods of account satisfaction which may include county assistance.
- Review applications daily ensuring timely processing and batching of accounts.
- Understand and communicate processing time frames and requirements for Medicaid County Federal Disability and other programs available to patients in correlation with a Patient Advocate.
- Pursues and collects required documentation for completion of internal and external applications to secure financial assistance. Process patient payments via US Bank portal as directed by patient.
- Act as a Patient Advocate on any account where the patient or family is unable to complete the application process independently.
- Forward accounts to other members of the Centralized Business Office as appropriate for resolution outside the scope of the Financial Counselor and Advocate Role.
- Adhere to the corporate compliance plan and to all applicable rules and regulations outlined by accrediting bodies and local state and federal agencies.

Preferred Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- 1-3 years Related experience
