Description

Resident Services IT (RSIT) is seeking an IT Supervisor to serve as a servant leader for a software development team focused on building and maintaining custom solutions e.g. Programs Tracking and Computer Aided Mass Appraisal (CAMA) that support assessment and valuation processes within the property tax ecosystem. This role centers on empowering team members by ensuring they have the skills tools and resources needed to deliver high-quality innovative solutions while providing coaching and supporting professional development to help them grow their technical expertise and leadership potential. This supervisor will foster collaboration remove obstacles and partner with other development teams management and business stakeholders to align technical capabilities with organizational goals.


Effective December 31 2025 there will be a general salary adjustment of 4% to the minimum and maximum of the range.

Location and hours:
This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings trainings or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with flexibility.Based on business needs of this position hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota.

This is a full-time benefit earning position. You must be acurrent regular or probationary employeeof Hennepin Countys Resident Services Administration department to apply for this position. Limited duration employees not eligible.

In this position you will:

  • Perform supervisory functions of technical staff; establishing performance expectations and standards hiring evaluating performance assigning reviewing work and training; establish metrics for the team and individual staff members.
  • Coach and mentor team members to strengthen technical expertise and leadership potential while identifying and facilitating professional development opportunities.
  • Empower team members by fostering trust and collaboration removing obstacles and ensuring access to resources while coordinating development efforts through effective interaction across IT customers and vendors and leveraging feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Promote best practices in software development including agile methodologies code reviews and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) to enhance quality efficiency and innovation.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity equity and inclusion through daily interactions and ongoing professional development.
  • Actively participate as a member of the RS IT Leadership Team to deliver reliable secure and efficient IT solutions that support and enhance operations for Resident Services.

Need to have:
  • One of the following:
    • Eight or more years of experience as an IT Specialist within the last ten years; four of which were at the Senior IT Specialist level.
    • Associate degree in approved related field or approved certification in an IT program andsix years of experience as an information technology specialist within the last eight years; three of which were at the senior IT specialist level.
    • Bachelors degree or higher in computer science management information systems (MIS) or an approved related field and four or more years of experience as an IT Specialist within the last six years; two of which were at the Senior IT Specialist level.
Nice to have:
  • Scrum Master or Product Owner training/certification.
  • Experience:
    • Working within a software development arena.
    • Supervising and directing IT professionals and/or support staff such as hiring leading staff setting work direction performance standards evaluating performance assigning work training discipline and coaching/developing employees.
    • Reading and interpreting software designs.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience or education around addressing racial equity gender equity LGBTQIA equity neurodiversity equity differing ability equity.

Resident Services IT (RSIT) manages the overall technology for the Assessors Office Elections Department Service Center Department Library and Examiner of Titles in addition to the Land Information and Tax Services Department which includes the Strategy and Support Division Recorder and Registrar of Titles Office Survey Division and Property Tax Division.
