Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer Aerospace Mechanical Components
Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for qualifying approving and developing suppliers of aerospace mechanical components to ensure compliance with customer regulatory and internal quality requirements. This role focuses on supplier audits product and process validation and ongoing supplier performance improvement across machining casting forging sheet metal fasteners and special processes.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Qualification & Approval
Evaluate qualify and approve suppliers of aerospace mechanical components including machining casting forging sheet metal fasteners and composite parts.
Conduct supplier audits to applicable standards including AS9100 AS9145/APQP and NADCAP special processes.
Assess supplier capability capacity risk and maturity of manufacturing and quality management systems.
Support supplier selection decisions and ongoing supplier development initiatives.
Product & Process Quality Assurance
Review and approve First Article Inspection (FAI) packages in accordance with AS9102.
Validate supplier manufacturing processes including Process Flow Diagrams PFMEA and Control Plans (APQP methodology).
Ensure compliance with engineering drawings specifications material requirements and GD&T.
Monitor and verify special processes such as heat treatment non-destructive testing (NDT) plating welding and surface finishing.
Drive corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methodologies.
Supplier Development & Performance Management
Lead supplier corrective actions using 8D 5-Why and root cause analysis techniques.
Evaluate process capability SPC data and measurement systems (MSA).
Support PPAP submissions and ongoing production readiness.
Improve supplier quality delivery and process robustness through data-driven analysis and collaboration.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes including CNC machining casting forging sheet metal fabrication and composites.
Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications including GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
Hands-on experience with quality tools and methodologies: 8D 5-Why FMEA SPC MSA PPAP and APQP.
Knowledge of aerospace materials such as titanium Inconel aluminum alloys and carbon fiber prepregs.
Skilled in metrology inspection techniques and use of precision measurement tools.
Experience assessing supplier capability for tight tolerances and complex GD&T requirements.
Soft Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to influence and negotiate with suppliers.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams (engineering manufacturing procurement and operations).
Organized proactive and capable of managing multiple suppliers and priorities.

BE / Diploma - Mechanical having 7 -10 Years of Experience with Aerospace Industry (Mechanical back ground)
