Job Summary
University of Iowa Health CareDepartment of Nursing is seeking a 50% Medical Assistant II to work in our OBGYN Clinics as a float staff member. Locations will include Washington Cedar Rapids North Dodge Street Clinic in Iowa City.
Duties to include:
- Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
- Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.
- In less complex situations may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing more complex situations performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
- Performs patient care related to vital signs lab draws setting up and assisting with minor procedures in-clinic treatments point of care testing and other duties as assigned.
- Provides psychological support to the patient and family based on assessed needs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Percent of Time: 50% (20 hrs/week)
Salary:Merit Plan Plan
Schedule: Tues/Wed/Thurs 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hr lunch) with the rotating schedule. Will split the 3 day week between Washington and ND/CR

- CertificationORregistration as a Medical AssistantORcompletion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant ProgramOR
- Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology medical terminology basicpharmacologyand medication administration including dose calculation and psychology (include educational transcripts during application process)
