General Description:
The Head Coach will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the athletic program and team fostering an appreciation for physical fitness teamwork and sportsmanship. The role includes designing training and game programs organizing and managing the coaching staff and ensuring the program is implemented in alignment with MIAA guidelines. Effective communication with school district members the community and booster clubs is essential along with the ability to adapt to changes and handle additional tasks as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise programs and teams.
- Help students achieve gains in athletic skills and team performance.
- Design a training program and a game program.
- Organize and supervise the coaching staff to ensure the program is implemented correctly.
- Train assistant coaches in techniques skills philosophy rules and strategies to enhance their performance.
- Hold regular meetings with the coaching staff periodically throughout the sports season.
- Responsible for assisting the Activities Director with scheduling the following:
- game schedules
- practice schedules
- transportation
- Develop team rules communicate them to the players and their parents and enforce them equitably.
- Ensure that student-athletes meet eligibility rules.
- Ensure that physical evaluation and permission forms are correctly completed and filed in the Athletic Directors office.
- Ensure that student-athletes adhere to training rules lettering policies academic requirements and behavioral standards.
- Ensure the continual supervision of student-athletes on the court in conditioning.
- Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities.
- Immediately report all major injuries incurred during practice sessions or competitions to the Athletic Director and Principal.
- Ensure proper purchasing inventory management and maintenance of equipment.
- Submit a complete team roster to the Athletic Director ten days before the first contest.
- Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director Principal or other Administrative Staff
Qualifications Required:
- Previous coaching experience or strong knowledge of the sport is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR Certified
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- A commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
- Ability to react to change productively and manage multiple responsibilities.
Preferred:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university preferred
