Job Objective:
Evaluate proposals and projects related to food security in both its developmental and relief aspects ensuring that interventions comply with humanitarian and development standards the quality of food items and their suitability for beneficiaries’ needs.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assess food-related proposals and review their components according to emergency food security standards.
- Review the nutritional value of food baskets and their suitability for the most vulnerable groups.
- Ensure food items comply with standard specifications (quality packaging country of origin).
- Review the experience of companies and suppliers in food basket and emergency aid projects.
- Ensure proposals align with standards such as Sphere and WFP Guidelines.
- Provide technical food evaluation within the technical committee report.
- Evaluate development projects aimed at improving food security such as agriculture local production and value chains.
- Analyze the feasibility of development interventions and their impact on strengthening communities’ economic resilience.
- Review the capacity of implementing entities to manage long-term food security projects.
- Ensure projects align with national and international food security strategies (FAO IFAD).
- Analyze risks sustainability and the project’s impact on beneficiary communities.
- Prepare an integrated technical evaluation (development relief) for each proposal.
- Coordinate with the logistics specialist to ensure the quality of the food supply chain.
- Provide clear recommendations to the technical committee regarding the quality of proposals and compliance with standards.
- Contribute to building a reference price database for food items and services related to the food security sector.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of experience in food security (relief or development).
- Strong knowledge of food specifications quality standards and sustainable food security programs.
- Experience in humanitarian or development work or with international organizations.
- Familiarity with humanitarian and development standards related to food security
