The Role
As an Assistant Project Manager / Project Controls Engineer you will support Project Managers by delivering high-quality project controls across schedule cost risk reporting and project documentation. You will work as part of integrated project teams and help bring consistency and best practice to major renewable energy projects.
Most of your work will focus on project controls but you may also take on broader project management responsibilities depending on project needs. Projects are primarily solar wind battery and hydrogen developments in the pre-application stage many of which are designated Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) and follow the Development Consent Order (DCO) process.
There is flexibility in the role and your responsibilities will vary depending on project demands the capability needs of the Pershing PM team and your own skills and interests. Supported by Pershings PMO Lead you will typically be involved in the following:
Key Responsibilities
Project Controls
- Project planning and scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules in Microsoft Project liaise with the supply chain for updates and communicate schedule changes to keep the team aligned with delivery goals.
- Cost management: Assist with developing budgets forecasting costs and monitoring actuals against budget.
- Risk management: Set up and maintain risk registers identify key risks and opportunities and communicate these effectively to the project team.
Project Delivery Support
- Scope and change management: Monitor alignment between scope deliverables and invoices. Support the development and application of change control processes.
- Reporting: Gather cost and schedule information from suppliers and produce clear accurate reports for project boards and senior client stakeholders.
- Document control: Administer project SharePoint and Teams sites manage documentation and maintain organised accessible project records.
- Production management: Develop trackers for DCO deliverable production coordinate document reviews and monitor progress against schedule expectations.
PMO and Internal Operations
- PMO development: Contribute to the creation and improvement of tools processes and frameworks that enhance project management capability across Pershing.
- Operations management: Support internal systems related to resource planning pipeline management and other business operations tools.
Location
This is a hybrid role based primarily from home but with the requirement to meet with the PMO team in either central Manchester or London once a week.

Desirable Qualifications Knowledge and Skills
- Degree in a relevant subject such as Project Management Project Controls Planning Quantity Surveying or Business Analytics.
- Experience using project management or planning software (especially Microsoft Project).
- Familiarity with Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) or the DCO process particularly in the pre-application phase.
- A project management qualification (e.g. APM PFQ or PMQ).
- Experience in Project Management or Project Controls ideally within the infrastructure or energy sectors.
