Job Summary

We are seeking a Locum Tenens Outpatient Psychiatrist to provide high-quality psychiatric care to Veterans at the Houston VA Medical Center. This is a 100% outpatient role with no inpatient overnight or emergency department responsibilities.

Youll work within a collaborative interdisciplinary mental health team serving a diverse Veteran population.

Responsibilities

Conduct outpatient psychiatric evaluations and follow-up visits
Provide medication management and treatment planning
Diagnose and treat a broad range of mental health conditions
Perform suicide risk assessments and crisis interventions (outpatient setting)
Document all encounters in the VA electronic health record (CPRS/Cerner)
Collaborate with psychology social work nursing and primary care teams

Schedule & Coverage

MondayFriday daytime clinic hours
No nights weekends or call
Assignment length: Ongoing with option to extend

Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency
Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Psychiatry (ABPN preferred)
Active unrestricted medical license (any U.S. state)
Active DEA registration
Ability to meet VA credentialing and privileging requirements
