Carbyne has been retained by a global top-tier original pharmaceutical company to appoint a Regional Medical Director to lead all medical affairs activities and personnel with a multi-country this pivotal role you will define and execute medical strategies for several countries in the region ensuring the medical team provides high-level strategic input to both Global Medical Affairs and local commercial plans. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of ethics and compliance managing the medical departments budget and providing visionary leadership and mentorship to your team to drive scientific excellence and business alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the local Medical Affairs strategy in alignment with regional and global objectives providing critical medical input to cross-functional business plans.
Team Management & Development: Lead mentor and resource the medical department overseeing talent management succession planning and the professional growth of all medical staff.
Financial Accountability: Manage the affiliate medical budget and headcount resources with full transparency collaborating closely with Finance HR and Regional leadership.
Clinical Research Oversight: Direct the development and compliant execution of local clinical research plans ensuring alignment with strategic therapeutic areas and national regulations.
Medical Governance & Compliance: Act as the primary lead for medical governance overseeing risk assessment internal controls and adherence to all company standards and ethical policies.
Safety & Pharmacovigilance: Ensure a robust pharmacovigilance system is in place proactively managing safety signals and fulfilling all reporting requirements to competent authorities.
Scientific Communication: Oversee the medical information service and the promotional review process serving as the final medical signatory for scientific and promotional materials.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain professional relationships with external experts and academic centers identifying opportunities for high-integrity scientific collaborations.
Executive Representation: Serve as the organizations key medical spokesperson with governmental agencies professional associations and the broader healthcare community.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as a strategic collaborator within the Leadership Team to ensure medical activities support overall business goals while maintaining scientific integrity.
Qualifications
Life Science Degree; candidates with a very strong scientific background and exceptional industry experience could be considered.
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing large medical/scientific teams within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
Proven track record in drug development commercialization processes and the regulatory environment.
Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate interdisciplinary teams and navigate complex matrix organizations.
Excellent business acumen and the ability to manage departmental budgets effectively.
Outstanding communication and negotiation skills with high proficiency in English.
Commitment to ethics with a reputation for integrity and sound judgment in a compliant environment.
