TheFacilities Engineer III provides engineering support direction and project management for all facilities systems infrastructure and environments supporting medical device manufacturing lab and office operations. While the Arbor Lakes facility (Maple Grove) will be your primary work location this role requires occasional travel to the Weaver Lake (Maple Grove) and Arden Hills campuses based on project needs.

You will lead cross-functional efforts to design construct commission qualify and maintain critical facilities systems and controlled environments while managing infrastructure projects of varying sizes and timelines.

Work model sponsorship relocation:
This is an on-site position based at our Arbor Lakes (Maple Grove) facility. Occasional travel to nearby Boston Scientific campuses in Weaver Lake (Maple Grove) and Arden Hills may be required based on project work.
Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for planning facilities equipment layouts for operational efficiency and optimal use of space and systems.
  • Review and estimate design costs including equipment installation labor materials and related expenses.
  • Develop criteria and performance specifications for infrastructure and equipment to meet operational needs and building/safety codes.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency compliance and performance.
  • Coordinate with architecture and engineering firms to develop design criteria and technical drawings.
  • Manage commissioning and qualification of controlled environments and utility systems supporting medical device manufacturing.
  • Achieve a detailed mechanical understanding of all infrastructure systems used in manufacturing and lab areas.
  • Prepare bid documentation and contracts to support competitive procurement for construction projects.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify project needs and propose effective solutions.
  • Lead and manage construction projects ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Oversee construction and installation activities to ensure conformance to specifications and schedules.
  • Gather and evaluate data related to facility/equipment specifications compliance requirements and construction feasibility.
  • May oversee scheduling and coordination of preventative maintenance activities.
  • Plan and coordinate shutdowns of manufacturing areas for critical maintenance or upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance of controlled areas and systems with FDA regulations global standards and internal procedures.
  • Create systematic decision-making frameworks for both high-level budgetary planning and detailed design assessments.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in facilities engineering project engineering or a related discipline
  • A proactive self-driven approach to work and learning
  • Demonstrated ability to lead inspire and support others
  • Strong communication skillsboth written and verbal
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across diverse teams and disciplines
  • Experience navigating large cross-functional organizations

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience leading or coordinating complex engineering design projects
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear accessible language
  • Background working within large-scale or Fortune 500 organizations
  • Familiarity with qualifying infrastructure for regulated manufacturing environments (e.g. medical devices)
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices
  • Experience guiding or supporting process transformation initiatives
  • Adaptable and resilient in dynamic evolving environments

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) see vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training pertinent education including licensure and certifications among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly) non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g. any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

Compensation for exempt non-sales roles may also include variable compensation i.e. annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
