Job Summary

TITLE: HEAD COMPETITION CHEER COACH

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Instruct and work with athletes to prepare for competition.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge on the rules strategies and techniques of sport. Knowledge of related sports equipment and safety.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year of coaching experience as an Assistant Cheerleading Coach or Head Cheerleading Coach with successful experience in coaching cheerleading preferred.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Coordinates the competition cheer program including B team.

2. Recommends purchase of equipment supplies and uniforms as appropriate.

3. Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season/out of season.

4. Assists athletic director and other coaches in providing off-season conditioning activities.

5. Assists athletic director school administrators and teachers in enforcing school rules for student athletes including supervision of student athletes academic programs.

6. Supervises the cleaning storage and care of all appropriate equipment.

7. Oversees the safety and physical conditions of the facility and physical condition of gyms team buses and locker rooms.

8. Enforces disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by team members and coaches.

9. Encourages maximum participation by students in sports coached by him/her and other school sports and activities.

10. Attends such Virginia High School League clinics and workshops as required by principal/AD.
