Job Summary

Effective: 2025-26 School Year

Education/Qualifications:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with K-12 Visual Arts Endorsement - LQ
Bilingual skills preferred;

Training/Experience/Responsibilities:
Ability to implement and administer school art curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives;
Provide a wide-range of opportunities for students so they may develop an interest and ability to express themselves visually and creatively in artistic ways utilizing skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the students interests;
Teaches students to develop and understand art appreciation and teaches students how to discover and develop their individual talents in the field of visual arts;
Teach knowledge and skills in art printmaking drawing painting ceramics paper art and sculpture;
Ability to provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciation for art;
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students;
High level of communication and organizational skills;
All other duties as assigned by the administrator;
Ability to work with student parents teachers and community agencies in a positive manner;
Ability to relate and work effectively with parents staff students and the public in a multicultural and multiracial community;
Knowledge and awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others;
Ability to establish and nurture an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of staff students and patrons of the District;
Ability to recognize that each person is a unique individual even as we celebrate their group cultural heritage;
