This role leads a hybrid team of Business Analysts and Quality Assurance professionals (10 or more members) within the Engineering and Business Analysis Team. The position ensures alignment between business requirements and technical delivery while maintaining quality assurance across initiatives. The BA Lead is responsible for translating business needs into actionable system requirements and overseeing QA processes to ensure high-quality delivery of insurance technology solutions.
A. Business Analysis
- Lead the requirements gathering and analysis process across business units ensuring business needs are well-defined traceable and aligned with strategic objectives.
- Translate complex business and regulatory requirements into functional and technical specifications for system development and integration.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholdersincluding business users project managers architects and developersto ensure clarity feasibility and alignment of requirements.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of Business Requirement Documents (BRD) Functional Specification Documents (FSD) and Process Flow Diagrams.
- Drive the prioritization and backlog management of business requirements ensuring timely and value-driven delivery of enhancements and projects.
- Provide domain expertise in life insurance products policy administration systems and regulatory compliance ensuring that solutions meet both operational and industry standards.
- Facilitate requirements validation sessions user acceptance testing (UAT) coordination and sign-off activities with business stakeholders.
- Identify process gaps and propose business process improvements or digital transformation opportunities in collaboration with IT and business leaders.
- Mentor and coach Business Analysts to strengthen analytical and communication capabilities ensuring consistent standards and documentation quality.
B. Quality Assurance
- Supervise QA activities to ensure thorough test planning execution and reporting across assigned projects.
- Review and approve test plans test cases and test strategies to confirm alignment with business and system requirements.
- Ensure defect management and tracking via JIRA (and JIRA Xray) collaborating with development teams for timely resolution.
- Promote and enforce QA best practices including automation opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate quality risks early in the project lifecycle to minimize business impact.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy information security and insurance regulatory standards throughout the testing process.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of QA tools frameworks and platforms to optimize efficiency and test coverage.
- Drive alignment between the BA and QA functions to ensure end-to-end traceability from requirements to test validation.
Experience/Skill:
- 8 years of experience in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with strong exposure to business analysis and quality assurance functions.
- Proven experience leading teams of BAs and/or QAs across multiple concurrent IT projects.
- Experience in insurance or BFSI domain (preferred) with solid understanding of life insurance processes products and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and ensure high-quality system delivery.
- Strong experience in stakeholder management documentation and change control.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum Kanban) and tools such as JIRA Confluence and JIRA Xray. Knowledge of test automation tools (e.g. Selenium Cucumber) is a plus.
Knowledge/Skill:
- Deep understanding of Business Analysis methodologies (BABOK-aligned preferred) and Software QA processes.
- Ability to define and communicate a holistic BAQA strategy aligned with enterprise goals. Strong analytical problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication including facilitation and presentation to senior stakeholders.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills to manage multiple parallel initiatives.
- Adept at mentoring junior analysts and QAs fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. Continuous learner with awareness of industry trends in business analysis testing automation and digital insurance technology.
