To assist in the efficient operation of the Business Office with ongoing accounting
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
- Bachelors degree required upon application. Preferred areas of study are business payroll accounting and finance.
Skills
- Minimum of three years of payroll experience required
- Accounting experience preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Google G-Suite spreadsheet software and accounting/payroll software required
- Working knowledge of payroll laws IRS and TRS reporting and benefit deductions required
- Ability to operate a 10-key adding machine by touch preferred
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations
- Demonstrated ability to write reports and business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills required
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and under pressure of audits deadlines and multiple tasks
Working Conditions:
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
- Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting and standing
- Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching occasional driving
- Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more)
- Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate frequent districtwide travel and occasional statewide travel; regular exposure to noise
- Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manages and processes all aspects of payroll including verifying timekeeping records for accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures
- Maintains payroll system data; enters payroll updates deductions benefits and personnel changes
- Processes payroll terminations and monthly payroll payoffs
- Processes payments and prepares reports for IRS TRS and other payroll-related entities
- Maintains and reconciles employee payroll deductions and benefit records
- Assists employees with payroll-related questions and concerns
- Sets up new employees in payroll and personnel systems
- Prepares and maintains payroll documentation and files for audit and compliance purposes
- Processes monthly payoffs for payroll
- Compiles statistical and financial data to produce payroll and accounting reports
- Reviews and approves travel expenses related to payroll processing
- Collaborates with Business Office staff Directors and program personnel to ensure accurate payroll and budget alignment
- Creates and monitors required financial and data report submissions for completion timeliness and accuracy
- Assists with bank reconciliations and internal charge computations related to payroll
- Assists auditors as needed
- Learns duties of other Business Office staff to provide backup support
- Prepares reports as required for Board meetings and internal review
- Travel may be required as a part of job responsibilities
- Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the CFO. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged activated messages checked and mailbox emptied regularly
- Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities
- Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region
- Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters
- Supports the mission goals and objectives of the ESC strategic plan
- Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program
- Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies processes and procedures
- Manages time calendar and job responsibilities to meet deadlines
- Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
- Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor
