Position: Medical Assistant
Location: West Orange NJ
Schedule: Full-Time Monday - Friday 9AM - 5PM
Compensation: $ 22 - $28 Per hour (Based on Experience)

Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing a friendly welcoming and confidential environment for patients. Additional duties include:
- Secures and/or assists in patient transfers necessary for physical examinations.
- Takes vital signs on patients blood pressure pulse respirations and temperature as requested by physicians and RN and enters information in the EMR system.
- Interviews patients to obtain current medications review of systems past medical history family history and documents information into the EMR for physician review.
- Assists the RN as necessary with patient clinic flow. Under direction of RN assists in management of patient care.
- Assists patients with discharge recommendations and follow thru (therapy and clinical order follow-up information and directions).
- Performs scanning of medical office documentation into EMR as necessary to complete patients medical records. Under MD and/or RN direction creates physician correspondence.
- Forwards messages to physician via the EMR systems and performs follow-up to messages received from physicians and department staff.
- Communicates information to RN and clerical staff regarding physician and patient information.
- Assists with clinical flow such as placing patients in exam rooms cleaning in exam rooms and setting up between patients.
- Assists in maintaining and stocking of clinical rooms.
- Assists in clinic for weighing of patients and/or patient and equipment as requested for patient care.
- Provides clerical support to department including answering phone calls taking messages and giving messages to appropriate person typing organization of medical records filing use of office equipment scheduling of x-ray requesting lab requisitions.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Medical office experience and/or experience working with physicians in direct patient care required
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification of Medical Assistant training preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Experience within a physical rehabilitation setting preferred
