BASIC FUNCTION:

Claremont McKenna College seeks an experienced marketing professional to showcase the work and mission of our nationally leading institution. The Senior Director Integrated Marketing in the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing will be an expert in marketing strategies brand management and the higher education environment with a passion for capturing the dynamics of college life including the residential college experience academic life within and outside the classroom off-campus learning admission athletics and advancement priorities.

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Strategic Communications and Marketing the Senior Director Integrated Marketing is responsible for development and implementation of the Colleges marketing efforts. The senior director plans strategies and deploys content in alignment with and in support of Claremont McKenna Colleges mission goals and priorities. The senior director is responsible for several marketing initiatives that will achieve defined objectives; champion brand and mission consistency; develop marketing plans for College priorities; and serve as an in-house marketing consultant for some administrative departments including Admission Advancement and Research Institutes among others. The senior director serves on the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketings senior leadership team along with the Associate Vice President and two Executive Directors.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Strategic Communications and Marketing the Senior Director Integrated Marketing performs or works collaboratively to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all communications and marketing initiatives reflect CMCs singular mission to prepare students for thoughtful and productive lives and responsible leadership in business government and the professions.
  • Produce and deliver full-channel integrated marketing products and strategies in pursuit of identified success objectives.
  • Analyze marketing and communications operational structures and processes throughout the College and advise on strategies to improve efficiencies and accelerate outcomes.
  • Provide direction on integration of new technologies workflows and marketing management tools to the benefit of the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing internal client teams and the College as a whole.
  • Produce and execute creative and inspirational integrated marketing campaigns that will accurately tell CMC stories and convey the uniqueness of this very effective and transformational environment.
  • Collaborate closely as part of a team of editors writers story tellers designers visual artists digital communicators social media channel managers and others.
  • Build maintain and advance engaged audiences across the Colleges social media channels through exceptional application of digital marketing strategies.
  • Maintain and advance CMCs brand identity delivering work product and content that increases awareness throughout the College community of CMCs brand attributes and adheres to brand standards.
  • Develop budgets after-action reports and other business documents to guide senior leadership on success and future planning.
  • Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to the position as may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS & SKILLS:

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required preferably in marketing communications journalism or related field. Advanced degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in communications and marketing including some management and strategic independent decision making is required. Experience working with networked collaborative teams in a higher education setting is preferred.

LICENSES: A valid drivers license or equivalent alternate form of transportation to off-site meetings and events is required.

  • Operate computers proficiently with basic Microsoft Office software (such as Word Excel Outlook) and associated professional editing software like Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Use and maintain assigned technology/devices/equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and keep up with video/photo trends and technology.
  • Ability to follow all written and verbal instructions asking questions as needed for clarification of projects or assignments.
  • Handle all activities and highly confidential information with patience discretion good judgment courtesy and tact while working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Prioritize and perform multiple projects/tasks meet deadlines/timelines respond to others in a timely manner and work both independently and as a collaborative member of the College with a high standard of integrity and ethics in support of the Colleges strategic vision and the divisions/departments annual goals.

OTHER:

REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Holiday weekend and evening work hours may be required. Travel may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
