Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certificate of completion for Health and Human Services training (state requirement 40-hour course providing early development child care givers the foundation for taking care of a child from 1 day to 5 years of age; employees or applicants may be hired for the position without the certification but are required to begin the course within 90 days of employment and must complete the training within 1 year of employment in the position).
- Valid Adult Child and Infant First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree from an accredited institution.
- One (1) year of related experience.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills.
- Knowledge of general policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA Public Records Sunshine Law FERPA and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy public information and records retention.
- Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment materials practices computers and applications.
- Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
- Ability to administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness injury or life-threatening emergencies per certification training guidelines.

Responsibilities
- Participate in daily set up preparing each area for the childrens arrival.
- Assist in placing children into various age groupings to achieve the appropriate staff/child ratios.
- Diaper and feed infants and toddlers.
- Assist in toilet training children upon parent/supervisor request.
- Guide monitor and interact with children as they engage in centers and activities.
- Select from available resources materials for circle time table time and staff-directed activities.
- Model appropriate behaviors for all children including hand washing before snacks and meals cleaning up one activity before beginning another and helping children transition into the ongoing activity.
- Prepare snacks.
- Use positive disciplinary techniques.
- Take part in the clean-up activities while children are present including disinfecting baby toys mats and changing tables doing laundry wiping tables and counters sweeping and vacuuming.
- Administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness injury or life-threatening emergencies per certification training guidelines.
