As an Elevator Inspector with the Montana Department of Labor & Industry (DLI) youll step into a leadership role that ensures safety and compliance across thousands of conveyance systems statewide. The Elevator Inspector Section Manager supervises inspection staff manages over 3000 annual permits and inspections and oversees the states Elevator Inspector Apprenticeship program. This position also coordinates equipment logistics and maintenance while partnering with customers and staff to resolve complex elevator and building compliance issues. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership organizational and problem-solving skills to advance public safety and elevate program performance.
Essential Functions:
As an Elevator Section Manager you will:
Lead coach and develop a team of Elevator Inspectors by fostering accountability technical excellence and a strong commitment to public safety.
Manage and prioritize over 4000 elevator permits and inspections annually applying strong organizational and analytical skills to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
Oversee the Elevator Inspector Apprenticeship Program promoting workforce development through mentoring training and skill-building.
Coordinate inspection equipment logistics maintenance and resource planning to support effective field operations.
Collaborate with customers contractors and internal staff to identify analyze and resolve complex elevator and building compliance issues using sound judgment and communication skills.
Interpret and apply state laws administrative rules and safety codes to maintain consistent enforcement and protect public safety.
Use data-driven insights and feedback to improve inspection processes enhance service delivery and support continuous program improvement.
