This position leads the development launch and lifecycle management of USPs advanced manufacturing products and services portfolio. This role bridges technical expertise and business strategy ensuring offerings align with USPs mission and meet the needs of customers across government pharmaceutical manufacturing and donor-funded public health sectors. While this role spans the breadth of AMTs technical areas the position will also be the technical expert in biologics and biopharmaceuticals.
The Product & Market Development Director has the following responsibilities:
- Define and execute the roadmap for AMT products and services (e.g. biologics technical services materials portfolio spectroscopy sensors AI/ML-enhanced services) in close collaboration with AMT team and other groups at USP.
- Drive revenue growth for AMT product lines and services.
- Lead technical proposal development for US government opportunities of both bespoke and standardized service offerings especially in the biopharmaceutical space.
- Define develop launch and manage the physical materials portfolio to support companies using advanced pharmaceutical and biologics manufacturing with close coordination with USP materials program and relevant program unit teams.
- Gather analyze and continuously update customer insights to inform product development and ensure offerings address real-world challenges in manufacturing and testing.
- Identify and prioritize market opportunities across pharma biotech and government sectors.
- Translate AMTs strategic priorities into market-ready offerings.
- Oversee stage-gate processes for product and service development.
- Manage lifecycle from concept through launch and post-market optimization while collaborating with AMT technical GHMS external communications and GHMS federal practice teams.
- Develop go-to-market strategies pricing models and commercialization plans for new offerings and recommend positioning strategies for existing offerings to the market opportunities.
- Work closely with GHMS business development and federal practice teams to identify and cultivate strategic alliances and partnerships with industry technology innovators academia and government agencies to accelerate adoption of advanced technologies and build sustainable US-based pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Monitor KPIs related to adoption customer satisfaction and contribution to USPs 2030 commitments (e.g. digital transformation supply chain resilience sustainability).
- Other duties and projects assigned.
Who is USP Looking For

- Advanced degree in biology biotechnology chemistry or related field.
- MBA or equivalent business experience with demonstrated business acumen.
- 7 years (Sr. Manager) to 10 years (Director) leading product strategy commercialization and market development in the life science business-to-business or government solutions spaces.
- 3 years participating in (Sr. Manager) or leading (Director) technical proposal development for US government funding opportunities.
- Desire to affect change and drive public health impact.
- Willingness to travel 20% as needed domestically and internationally on occasion.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may substitute.

- Demonstrated ability to explore emerging technologies and market trends asking the right questions to uncover unmet needs and unexpected solutions.
