JOB TITLE:COMPUTER MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN-District Level II
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degreein the field of information technology preferred OR
Relevant certifications and/or experience equivalent to an associate degree. - Four years of experience supporting and troubleshooting network components educational software/applications and Windows macOS & ChromeOS operating systems in an enterprise-scale production environment. Experience processing and escalating internal tickets and/or incidents between tiered agents.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Computer Maintenance Technician - Level II is responsible for assisting Level I techs with troubleshooting and resolving issues with educational technology. Persons in this position display a proficient understanding of databases user account management software troubleshooting and hardware installation maintenance & repair. Level II technicians also serve as an escalation point for resolving technical issues in the district.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Resolve escalated or district-wide technical support incidents.
- Perform a variety of skilled and technical duties related to the installation repair alteration and maintenance of computers printers and other peripheral equipment; schedule repairs or installations.
- Conduct one-on-one and group training for personnel in use of computers and related software.
- Inspect isolate and diagnose system malfunctions and determine appropriate repair procedures; replace defective parts and restore to proper operation of equipment; analyze and resolve general software malfunctions.
- Update and maintain diagrams documentation and other resources for staff and departmental use.
- Monitor ticket system to assist in completion of all outstanding issues.
- Make purchasing recommendations and recommend strategies to maintain efficiency.
- Install computer hardware systems and software including upgrades and enhancements.
- Install monitor and maintain district-owned technology devices and equipment; determine appropriate location for installation; install cables and connect devices and test devices for proper operation.
- Collaborate with departmental leadership and Level III techs on planning appropriate placement of technology devices and training to be delivered.
- Move equipment to new locations as requested; reroute and install communication cables for new location; test system to assure proper operation.
- Perform advanced level repairs on technology devices and equipment securing advanced-level training if necessary; collaborating with supervisor to arrange for training and specialized repair equipment if resources exist.
- Communicate with other departments regarding the repair and installation of computer equipment; communicate with vendors and manufacturers regarding parts pricing purchases and product information to find the best source of supply.
- Provide assistance information and technical expertise to faculty administrators and students regarding the safe and proper operation care and maintenance of computerized equipment.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Proficient knowledge of technology equipment and devices.
- Methods equipment and tools used in the skilled repair and servicing of computer equipment.
- Proficient knowledge of computer networks and networking equipment management installation and maintenance.
- Safety practices and precautions used in working with computer equipment.
- Proficient computer programming knowledge and application (preferred)
- Proficient techniques in record-keeping organization inventory and work order management.
- Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy.
- Health and safety regulations.
ABILITY TO:
- Perform a variety of intermediate duties related to the installation repair alteration and maintenance of technology devices and equipment.
- Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
- Seek out resources for self-training training other staff etc. when necessary and warranted.
- Execute installation and repair work.
- Maintain records related to work performed.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Work independently with little direction.
- Lift heavy objects.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Subject to both indoor environmentally controlled and outdoor environments. Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones personal interruptions background noises. Travel amongst building locations required. Will require working with or near the public parents and children and will be subject to sounds scents and other related environmental factors. This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgment.
Physical Demands:
- Standing walking sitting reaching talking bending pushing and moving throughout the day
- Some physical demand with some lifting of 50 lbs or more
- Hand and finger dexterity
- Repetitive movements
Travel Requirements: (Frequency and Duration)
- Less than 20% out of district
- Daily as needed within district boundaries
