Do you like a fast-paced work environment engaging as a leader in Capital Ones second line of defense for operational risk management As a Scenario Manager in Capital Ones Operational Risk Management (ORM) Department you will apply your leadership influence and analytical skills to help advance Capital Ones capabilities to effectively measure risk. Working with key first and second line risk leaders the Scenario Manager will provide second line operational risk governance and risk advisory services.
Scenario Managers are experienced risk advisors and key liaisons guiding risk measurement by assessing the probability and impact of severe hypothetical operational loss events. These assessed scenarios inform the annual Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) for Operational Risk forecasting demonstrating resilience and supporting capital planning.
The role demands strong communication interpersonal integrative thinking and excellent project management skills to effectively govern and manage operational risk across the enterprise.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Influence the development of high-severity loss scenarios by collaborating closely with VP Senior Leadership based on a deep evaluation of Operational Material Risks
Drive consensus among diverse expert opinions and navigate competing objectives with stakeholders to ensure clarity
Leverage superior judgment intuition and strong relationships to defend and gain support for key decisions
Work across the multiple dimensions of operational risk programs understanding their impact on various business units
Actively build and maintain relationships with key customers throughout the scenario analysis process to ensure valuable and actionable output
Analyze scenario results for consistency and soundness ensuring the defensibility of results by triangulating them with supporting data analysis and analytics from internal and external sources
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma GED or Equivalent Certification
At least 2 years of experience in Process Management or At least 2 years of experience in Project Management
At least 2 years of risk management experience in first second or third line of defense
Business Process Management Certification or Six Sigma Certification or Lean Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Business Management Risk Management Financial Analysis Process Management Project Management Communications Computer Science or Information Systems
4 years of experience in Process Management or 4 years of experience in Project Management
4 years of risk management experience in first second or third line of defense
3 years of experience within financial services
Proficiency with structuring executive-level decks and presentations
Experience with data analytics tools such as Excel and Tableau

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean VA: $146100 - $166700 for Risk ManagerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
