Role Summary
We are seeking a Tech Team Lead/Engineering Manager who will oversee the architecture execution and evolution of Utivas entire technology stack. This leader will manage engineering teams drive technical excellence mentor developers and partner closely with Product and AI teams to turn our vision into a scalable global infrastructure.
You will lead the engineering roadmap across AI systems multi-tenant SaaS infra global payroll automation compliance engines hiring workflow automation and large-scale learning systems.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who wants to build a category-defining technology product.

Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Strategy
Define and execute Utivas technical roadmap across UtivaLearn UtivaHire and UtivaPay.
Lead and scale a high-performing engineering team (backend frontend AI/ML DevOps).
Design a scalable modular multi-tenant architecture that supports tens of thousands of global users.
Build engineering processes for predictability reliability velocity and quality.
Partner with Product to prioritise features scope releases and ensure technical feasibility.
Product Execution & Delivery
Oversee end-to-end delivery of major systems including:
AI-based assessment and recommendation engines
HireOps & PayOps autonomous agents
Global payroll compliance automation
Contract generation and legal intelligence systems
Multi-currency payment flows and integrations
Learning path automation and coaching intelligence
Own sprint planning code reviews deployment workflows and release cycles.
Ensure system uptime data integrity operational resilience and security.
AI & Systems Architecture
Architect and ship large-scale AI systems using LLMs fine-tuned models and vector stores.
Implement scoring engines rule-based decisioning contract automation and fraud detection.
Build an extensible platform that integrates:
third-party assessment tools
global payout partners
identity verification/KYC providers
workforce and HR compliance APIs
Team Management & Culture
Hire mentor and inspire engineers to perform at world-class standards.
Drive a culture of ownership documentation testing and continuous improvement.
Coach junior and mid-level engineers into senior roles.
Introduce engineering rituals that increase efficiency and clarity.
Technical Excellence & Security
Ensure robust DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines observability monitoring automated deployments.
Implement and enforce best practices in security compliance API governance and data protection.
Lead the migration to scalable distributed systems and microservices as we grow.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Experience
7 years in software engineering with 3 years in engineering leadership.
Proven experience building large-scale multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
Strong backend engineering skills ( Python Go or similar).
Expertise with cloud infrastructure (AWS GCP or Azure).
Experience with microservices distributed systems and API architecture.
Experience with AI/ML systems LLM integrations or recommendation models (preferred).
Deep understanding of:
authentication/authorization
payments and fintech infrastructure
compliance or workflow automation
data engineering and analytics pipelines
Leadership Experience
Built or managed engineering teams of 525 people.
Delivered complex product roadmaps end-to-end.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Able to translate technical decisions into business outcomes.
Bonus Experience
Previous experience at a global payroll HRIS ATS or EdTech platform.
Experience architecting systems that use AI agents or automation engines.
Understanding of global compliance identity verification or contractor risk frameworks.
