Job Summary

The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West Great South Upper Wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of services including: GP Clinics Primary Health Care Counselling and Mental Health. SWAMS has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.

SWAMS is dedicated to enhancing employment opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This position is designated under Section 50 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) and as such only Aboriginal people are eligible to apply.

Join our dedicated Mental Health and AOD team and make a real difference in the lives of individuals at risk. The Aftercare Program delivers responsive culturally appropriate and evidence-based support for people experiencing suicidal ideation including those who have survived a suicide attempt or are at imminent risk.

As an Administration Officer you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of this life-saving program. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing intake processes appointment scheduling and consent documentation
  • Handling data entry reporting and maintaining accurate records
  • Acting as the first point of contact for clients and referrers with professionalism and empathy
  • Coordinating communication between internal teams and external partners
  • Supporting meetings through scheduling and minute-taking

Youll work closely with the Care Navigator Peer Support Worker Marketing Officer and the wider Mental Health and AOD clinical team to ensure efficient service delivery and compliance with reporting requirements.

This is a Full-Time role on a Fixed Term contract until June 2027

About You

  • Computer skills with experience and competency in Microsoft programs
  • Completion of recognised suicide specific frameworks or willingness to complete within three months (training is supported by SWAMS)
  • Ability to achieve high level customer service to internal and external clients
  • Demonstrated organisational time management and administration skills
  • Ability to take direction determine priorities and manage workloads to meet agreed timelines and objectives.
  • Good interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to drive to outreach to the Greater Bunbury and South West regions.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in community and/or Aboriginal health
  • Training in suicide specific framework (IASIST ASIST SafeTALK CALM Gatekeeper)
  • Knowledge or experience working with database or data management systems (Communicare PMHC MDS LogiQC)
  • Passion for data collection and management
