GrainFarmers of Ontario is seeking an enthusiastic people-oriented individual tojoin our team as a Communications Intern for a one-year term.
In this role youll help promote our Good in Every Grain (GiEG) publicoutreach campaign by connecting with the public at events across Ontario and providinggeneral support to outreach initiatives.

The Role
The Communications Intern works with theCommunications Specialist PR to ensure the success of Grain Farmers ofOntarios public outreach program. The intern will act as an ambassador forGrain Farmers of Ontario by taking the Grain Discovery Zone trailer tovarious fairs and events across Ontario throughout the summer and fall seasonsto engage and educate children and adults on grain farming. They will alsocreate engaging digital content about the events and act as support to thecommunications team as needed.
Your day-to-day
Coordinate logisticsrelated to Grain Farmers of Ontarios presence at public-facing fairs andevents across the province with the Grain Discovery Zone (GDZ) trailer.
Attend consumer-facingfairs/events across the province with the GDZ trailer including driving the GrainFarmers of Ontario truck and trailer to events and set up & tear down ofthe trailer display
Represent GrainFarmers of Ontario to educate interact with and answer questions fromvisitors to the GDZ about all aspects of grain farming in Ontario
Create content forthe Good in Every Grain (GiEG) blog social media and recipe newsletter
Coordinate withthecommunications team to include updates on the GDZ for weekly/monthlynewsletters and social media for public-facing and farmer-member channels.
What you will Bring
Education & Experience
College Diploma in agriculture Marketing and/orcommunications
Experience driving alarge truck with a trailer preferred
Experience with event planning is considered anasset
Experience in agriculture leadership programs suchas 4H Jr. Farmers Queen of the Furrow etc. is considered an asset
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of the Canadian agricultureindustry and grain farming in Ontario
A motivatedself-starter with creative energy and proven initiative
An enthusiasticoutgoing communicator equipped to promote the importance of Ontarios grainindustry
Comfortable andenjoy working alone for long periods of time
Interest orexperience in writing
