About the opportunity

Teaching Fellows are skilled educators and members of a teaching team who engage in reflective practice to inform and deliver a high-quality curriculum that results in a quality student experience. The role is responsible for the collaborative design development and delivery of curriculum including discipline content assessment of student work and may include unit coordination (which may involve the coordination of tutors).

This role contributes to the University Colleges Diploma of Applied Technologies (Cyber Security) specialisation to deliver foundational cyber security units which cover the following topics: threat detection and analysis industry-standard tools including Wireshark and Splunk vulnerability management and incident response.

What youll do:

  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with educational design and development specialists and other teaching staff on the design and development of University College offerings that meet and/or exceed the required standards and demonstrate University Colleges commitment to best practice pedagogy.
  • Undertake scholarly teaching duties and responsibilities including:
  • Preparation of unit outlines tutorial and workshop materials and online learning content.
  • Setting production and marking of assessment tasks.
  • Work with third-party partners industry experts and stakeholders to deliver high-quality relevant courses.
  • Conducting classes tutorials workshops and consultations.
  • Evaluation of student work.
  • Performance of administrative duties associated with teaching including keeping of records.
  • Assist in matters of student academic welfare including implementing student management support activities and making timely and appropriate referrals to central university services.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of teaching and learning at University College with a priority on self-development in the areas of currency of learning and teaching skills and knowledge and/or industry credibility/practice skills.

What were looking for:

  • A Bachelors degree in ICT Cyber Security or a relevant area coupled with industry specific experience and/or equivalent combination of qualifications and extensive higher education/industry experience.
  • Practical experience with core cyber security tools and environments packet analysis tools hands-on cyber lab environments and familiarity with key cybersecurity frameworks. Knowledge of cyber threat intelligence is desirable.
  • Experience in learning and teaching that demonstrates a commitment to delivering and developing high quality and contemporary curricula which caters for differing learning styles and accommodates a variety of delivery approaches.
  • A good record in and continuing commitment to:
  • the evaluation and dissemination of innovative learning and teaching practice; and/or
  • comparable contribution to industry/community.
  • Proven capacity to work in a complex and changing work environment with demonstrated agility flexibility and responsiveness to business needs.
  • Outstanding communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with a diverse range of organisations and people and to work collaboratively and harmoniously as a valued member of a high performing workplace team.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $155885 comprising base salary within the range of $114766 to $133235 plus 17% superannuation.
