About the Role:
The Community Coordinator manages all aspects ofFair RidgeFamilySheltersvolunteerprogram andwillassistin community outreach positionis responsible forrecruiting training supervising evaluating and recognizingFair RidgeFamilySheltervolunteers. This position will alsoassistin managing and tracking all in-kind donations and services. The Community Coordinator servesas a point of contact toexternalgroups and organizations partnering withFair RidgeFamilyShelterand plans collaborative activities and donation position will also support various agency initiatives through collaboration with the Shelter House DevelopmentTeam and support shelter programming for clients.
Responsibilities:
- Responsiblefor recruitment background checks screening and placement of all potential volunteers including individuals and groups
- Host volunteer orientation and schedule volunteer recruiting events and/or speaking engagements conduct on-site training for all shelter volunteers
- Maintain regular communication with all volunteers through in-person meetings telephone and email communication
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of volunteer program and adjust as needed
- Create andmaintaina current list of active volunteers and all volunteer records
- Create andmaintainan updated calendar of program and volunteer events
- Serve as a representative ofFair RidgeFamilyShelterto community groups schools and associations andmaintainpositive working relationships with such groups
- Assistin the organizing andmaintainingof all in-kind donations and entering donation receipts by theendof each month in Salesforce(CRM)
- Coordinate with program staff toidentifyandmaintaincurrent wish-list needs
- Coordinate strategic holiday donation efforts between donors and shelter staff
- Solicitin-kind donations and services to help meet the needs of the shelter and its residents
- Coordinatedonation pick-up and delivery
- Assist Shelter House Development Team in planning andfacilitatingannualevents
- Track all volunteer participation and record information in monthly data report system
- Attend meetings and trainings as directed by supervisorandFair RidgeFamilyShelter leadership
- Ensure compliance with all agency policies
- Exemplify the Shelter House core values:InclusivityCollaboration Accountability Respect and Empowerment
- Manage DC Diaper Bank functionsforFair RidgeFamilyincluding reporting and operational coordination
About You:
Required:
- A bachelors degree in communications marketing human services relatedfieldorcommensurateexperience
- 1 years of volunteer or program management
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize competing priorities and make sound judgements
- Ability to complete tasks while navigating frequent interruptions
- Ability to deliver creativeresource solutions to unique challenges
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Validdriverslicense and reliable transportationto travel 15-20%(local)
- Ability todrive a minivan
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed
Preferred:
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness through community-based programs volunteer coordination outreach initiatives or shelter environments.
Physical Requirements:
- Annual TB Test isrequired
- Ability to sit or stand forlong periods
- Ability to lift items weighing 10-20 pounds
