The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting
for a Natural Resource Specialist 3 located in Anchorage Alaska!
What you will be doing:
Housed within the Division of Wildlife Conservation the incumbent will serve as a highly specialized single point of contact with advanced expertise leading ADF&Gs efforts to influence federal laws regulations plans and policies concerning federal lands particularly those related to conservation system units (CSUs) established or expanded by ANILCA. They will represent the Department in direct coordination with federal representatives in Alaska and elsewhere to address ANILCAs unique safeguard public access to and across federal lands and defend state authority over resources such as fish wildlife and waterways.

The working conditions you can expect:
The duty station for this position is in the Anchorage ADF&G office and operates during normal business hours typically from 8:00AM to 5:00PM in a dedicated office space. Daily responsibilities include reviewing and responding to federal plans and regulations as well as performing routine administrative tasks such as filing and recordkeeping.

We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
Writing: Demonstrates proficiency in written communication by applying correct grammar punctuation and spelling. Effectively conveys complex information including technical scientific or policy-related content in a concise clear and well organized-manner that is appropriate for the intended audience
Public Planning: Knowledge of state and federal laws regulations and policies related to natural resource (especially fish and wildlife) management including ANILCA the Wilderness Act NEPA and the organic statutes of federal land management agencies as well as familiarity with the Public Trust Doctrine.
Influencing/Negotiation: Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail while effectively negotiating building teams and collaborating with diverse and strong-minded stakeholders with not governed by state statutes or procedures so the ability to generate new ideas solve problems in innovative ways and view situations from different perspectives is crucial.
Project Management: Experience managing multiple projects in stressful situations identifying important issues and adjusting priorities to ensure completion of projects within strict deadlines. Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary.

Special Note:
For purposes of the minimum qualifications natural resource management is defined as the management of the land water mineral forest oil gas agricultural archaeological natural and cultural history park and related surface and subsurface resources. Experience or education in natural resource management means involvement in the above resources exclusively. Those with experience or education in managing these resources may specialize in different management functions (for example planning regulation research or title). All of this experience is applicable to the natural resource management definition. Some positions may require education in a particular area of natural resource management or specific technical knowledge and training gained through specialized education or progressively greater responsibilities at the lower levels of the series.
