Job Summary
Position Summary
The Department of Music at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a part-time Instructor position for a qualified director of the University Band a student-community ensemble whose repertoire specializes in wind music of all genres and styles. This is a one-semester appointment with teaching responsibilities beginning on January 7 2026 and concluding on May 6 2026 though the position may be renewed in future semesters. Duties will include selecting repertoire and preparing folders for students set-up and striking of the equipment before and after organizing and executing equipment moves when necessary and directing the ensemble during all rehearsals and concerts. MUSC 213.004 meets from 6:15 to 7:45 pm on Tuesday evenings in room 1201 in Kenan Music Building.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
At least 3 years of experience rehearsing and conducting a wind band is required. Masters in Music or equivalent education and public school teaching experience is also preferred.
