**Job Description**
We are seeking a qualified neonatologist to provide expert care in our NICU at the hospital. This role can be a Medical Director position responsible for leading NICU operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical care and operational excellence or an Associate Medical Director position contributing to these efforts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing advanced NICU interventions such as high-frequency ventilation whole body cooling and nitric oxide therapy.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including pediatric and maternal-fetal medicine specialists pediatric surgeons and other neonatology staff.
- Contributing to medical education by engaging with students and residents from the Virginia Tech School of Medicine specifically in pediatric and family practice.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and research projects in alignment with the Virginia Neonatal Perinatal Collaborative.
- Providing clinical coverage that includes day shifts on-call responsibilities and weekend duties as required.
- Ensuring compliance with hospital policies and actively participating in leadership meetings and committees.
This is a permanent full-time position and candidates must reside in the local area with relocation considered if necessary.
**Qualifications:**
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatology (must be within 5 years of residency) -
**REQUIRED** (no exceptions)
- Active Virginia medical license or willingness to obtain one -
**REQUIRED**
- A clean malpractice and medical license history is
**HIGHLY PREFERRED**- Candidates must already live in the area or be willing to relocate -
- DEA registration must be obtained prior to start date -
**REQUIRED** (no exemptions)
**Certification Requirements:**- Board Certified- Board Eligible
