Sorting Manager
Essential Duties:
Redwood Materials is currently searching for a Head of Sorting Technology to join our engineering team and develop robotics technology to automatically sort battery feedstock at the input to our recycling plants. This is a leadership role with strategic and tactical components; a successful candidate will build and lead a cross functional engineering team of software controls mechanical and electrical engineers to create the future of sorting technology for the company.
Responsibilities will include:
- Technical lead for the architecture design implementation and test of an automated battery sorting system
- People lead for a cross functional team of engineers with a focus on growing and mentoring engineers
- Building a strong team and culture of safety execution and innovation through data driven engineering
- Collaborating with product finance operations and engineering teams to iterate on system requirements that make sense for the business plant operators and technical stakeholders for downstream battery consumption
- Decision making for make versus buyfor hardware and software components including but not limited to sensors actuators conveyer systems ML infrastructure and compute systems
- Requirements authorship for a reliable and accurate production sorting system
- Own the technology roadmap forautomated sorting systems at the company
Desired Qualifications
- BS/MS in Engineering and 10 years of engineering and engineering leadership experience in a fast paced highly fluid environment
- Proficiency across hardware and software stacks as applied in industries like robotics vehicle automation or factory automation
- Well versed in all types of machine/automation components sensors vision systems electro-mechanical actuators motion control pneumatics hydraulics etc.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular punctual attendance consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards
Working Conditions:
- Environment such as office or outdoors.
- Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise dust chemicals and temperature extremes while protected by PPE for extended periods of time.
- Essential physical requirements such as climbing standing stooping or typing.
- Occasional work weekends nights or be on-call as a regular part of the job.
- Occasional travel requirements.
In accordance with California pay transparency laws the salary range for this position is listed below. Actual compensation may vary based on a variety of factors including experience education and skills.
California Pay Range:
$214000 - $345000 USD
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
