Lead Teacher - Additional Educational Needs (AEN)

Full-time Junior School Vlaskamp

We are seeking an AEN (Additional Educational Needs) Lead or a qualified teacher with proven leadership experience and specialist training in the AEN field. The ideal candidate will be an advocate for inclusion demonstrate excellent communication skills work collaboratively with colleagues and show a strong commitment to supporting all learners.

Successful candidates must be qualified experienced and able to demonstrate an outstanding teaching ability and an up-to-date knowledge of the English National Curriculum. A willingness to work collaboratively and plan across the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners is essential as is the desire to work closely with parents and to support school events. There is also an expectation to support the breadth of opportunities through delivering activities beyond the curriculum and working day.

Junior School Vlaskamp campus in The Hague has around 450children on role from Foundation Stage 1 up to Year 6 and is proud to be an internationally diverse community including children from over 80 different nationalities. We offer a wide range of support and interventions for students who have Additional Educational Needs as we believe that all students are entitled to receive a broad balanced and relevant curriculum which provides them with an equal opportunity to develop their full potential. We are proud of our record of including children with additional needs into mainstream classes although on occasion the provision of a designated Learning Support Assistant may be required to meet the learning needs of some children.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and line manage staff from the Additional Educational Needs team.

  • Oversee provision mapping of support across the school based on a range of data.

  • Support colleagues to manage their time to ensure the greatest impact on learning across the school.

  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership and middle leadership team.

  • Lead and support colleagues to communicate effectively with parents and carers to ensure transparency and support for the child.

  • Liaise with parents external agencies and the wider community to ensure holistic support

  • Support your team to analyse the data of pupils progress and use this to ensurechildren are being appropriately challenged and supported.

  • Be qualified to carry out the relevant assessment of student needs (or be prepared to undertake relevant training) plan and implement evidence basedinterventions in some 1:1 and small group settings.

  • Share strategies co planning withteachers to support children socially emotionally and academically aiming for every child to reach their potential.

  • Lead professional learning opportunities within your team and across the school.

  • Support your team to ensure they are up to date on research into how children learn most effectively.
