We are currently looking for a part-time Teacher of Geography for our Senior School Voorschoten (SSV) an 11-18 campus of around 660 students just outside of The Hague.
Geography is a popular subject with a clear vision a dedicated team of teachers and the department regularly posts some of the best exam outcomes in our school. Outcomes in GCSE geography across 2024 and 2025 were consistently high with over 65% of students securing a 7 and over 90% achieving 5. In 2024 90% of IB geographers achieved a grade 6 and 7. Uptake into examination groups from Key Stage 3 is very positive with GCSE students following the AQA syllabus. We currently have 3 classes in both Year 10 and Year 11. In the Sixth Form we also run six groups with both A Level (Edexcel International A-level) and IB offered and many students opting to complete an Extended Essay in Geography.
We aim to inspire our students through a knowledge and skill rich curriculum which challenges their perceptions of the world. We are very proud to have created an exciting contemporary KS3 curriculum covering a wide range of topics from The Geography of Conflict Population and Place to Oceans Hazards and The Climate Crisis.
The Geography department is vibrant well-resourced and committed to learning taking place beyond the classroom. We run a number of fieldtrips to a range of locations and would be looking to develop this further.
We are particularly interested in innovative and creative practitioners who would enthusiastically contribute to the wider co-curricular aspect of the Department and school life. The post would be suitable for both recently qualified and more experienced teachers. The ability to teach both Human and Physical Geography is desirable.
