SUMMARY:
Responsible for analyzing malfunctions; performing repair calibration inspection overhaul modification re-programming maintenance support and operation of simulators trainers computers and digital image visual systems. Supports C-5 Training System (TS) device operations readiness troubleshooting and sustainment. This position requires shift work to support daily training operations.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists students and instructors with operation of training devices including DMO activities (setup power on/off readiness testing initialization and related support).
Prepares the system for operation IAW onsite operational and technical manuals and performs required operational support functions.
Operates the WST as an aircrew member (pilot copilot flight engineer or instructor) to evaluate system operation.
Conducts systems interface checks system-level diagnostics and device readiness-for-training checks.
Executes system initialization recovery and reset actions during training operations.
Conducts voice communications on phone interphone and radio circuits.
Diagnoses and resolves problems associated with training device initialization or operation.
Diagnoses malfunctions of computers and associated equipment; performs readiness tests and repairs.
Applies fundamental troubleshooting procedures to maintain interfaces and peripheral equipment used with computers.
Performs fault isolation and assists with root-cause identification.
Possesses extensive practical knowledge of electronic circuits computer theory and hydraulic/pneumatic control and power systems.
Performs scheduled preventive maintenance unscheduled maintenance inspections repair calibration overhaul and re-programming tasks.
Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting maintenance manuals drawings and related documentation.
Installs changes and updates to simulators and support equipment as required.
Interprets and works with computer systems using various operating systems.
Installs and maintains Computer-Based Training (CBT) networks servers and workstations.
Provides networking and information systems support for training devices and associated networks.
Interprets detailed circuit diagrams schematics and electrical drawings.
Performs soldering operations on delicate microelectronic and electronic assemblies.
Supports lifecycle sustainment by installing approved hardware/software updates and maintaining configuration alignment.
Maintains required documentation of all maintenance activities including work orders repair status actions taken inventory and material control functions.
Documents all parts usage consumables and spares activity for sustainment reporting.
Identifies recurring issues and provides technical input for corrective action recommendations.
Adheres to all health safety security and local base procedures.
Supports preparations for FAA-level certification inspections.
Receives technical guidance from a supervisor or senior technician as needed.
Attends required weekly monthly and quarterly meetings.
Maintains compliance with company professionalism standards policies and operational requirements.
Must be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Technical/Associates degree is desired with three (3) to five (5) years experience as a flight simulator technician or equivalent job-related experience. Aircraft maintenance work experience within an Aerospace Repair shop environment and an Airframe & Propulsion license (highly desired). Knowledge of commonly used concepts practices and procedures within the field. Related skill areas should include technical writing and presentation skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read analyze and interpret common professional literature. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management and colleagues.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to comprehend and apply basic mathematical skills.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Experienced and proficient in the use of standard Personal Computer productivity software tools including word processors spreadsheets presentation graphics project management and databases.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
CITIZENSHIP:
U.S. Citizenship. Must be able to obtain a Secret Level Clearance
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Familiar with basic and advanced pieces of specialized tools and test equipment such as oscilloscopes function generators DVM torque wrenches etc.
