Compliance Specialist III

Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department is seeking applicants for the Associate Director of Compliance. This position will join a solution-oriented compliance team working together to support coaches staff and student-athletes within 23 high-achieving sports. Based on experience this individual will serve as the compliance liaison for numerous sports and will provide forward-thinking and people-centered support to create positive outcomes. The compliance team welcomes any and all skill sets and experiences that can be utilized to directly or indirectly impact the day-to-day operations of the compliance office.

Key job responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as the main compliance liaison for numerous sports. Sport liaisons support coaches staff and student-athletes with education interpretations and NCAA/Big Ten waivers through a collaborative and communicative approach.
  • Assist with the design and execution of department-wide compliance educational efforts.
  • Create strategy for and provide broad-based support to all sports which may include playing and practice seasons certified eligibility lists student-athlete forms participation records promotional activities memorabilia donations signature requests outside competition annual awards and the transfer portal.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists leadership with developing and publishing compliance reports in accordance with established laws and regulations
  • Collaborates with other institutional compliance subject matter experts to review procedures and make change recommendations to leadership
  • Audits and serves as a subject matter expert and point of contact for potentially affected units and affiliated organizations ensuring appropriate notices are issued relating to compliance

Compensation:

The typical starting salary ranges from $65000 to $80000 depending on qualifications and experience. There may be flexibility for highly qualified candidates.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least two years of full-time Division I NCAA athletics compliance experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Awareness and working knowledge of the current state of college athletics.
  • Most recent experience working within athletics compliance are at a P4 institution.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree required;
  • Advanced degree (Masters or JD) in a related field preferred.

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range commensurate with the candidates qualifications and experience.
