Summary
The Director of Waterworks Sales is responsible for planning implementing and directing all waterworks sales activities to achieve company sales goals and revenue targets. This role provides strategic leadership to the sales organization while remaining actively engaged in selling developing key accounts and building long-term customer relationships. This role provides strategic leadership to the sales organization including direct management of two Waterworks Sales Managers one Waterworks Sales Operations Managers and oversees a team of Account Managers and Customer Service Coordinators to ensure sustained growth and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as business needs require.
- Actively participate in selling efforts including developing key customer relationships pursuing strategic accounts and supporting major sales opportunities.
- Recruit hire and onboard Account Managers and Customer Service Coordinators; develop and implement effective sales orientation and training programs.
- Recruit and directly manage and coach two Waterworks Sales Managers and one Waterworks Sales Operations Manager ensuring alignment with company sales strategies goals and performance expectations.
- Provide leadership and guidance to assigned sales staff through Sales Managers including sales skills development account strategies territory planning and administrative execution.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to drive revenue growth and meet or exceed assigned sales targets.
- Act as a resource to sales staff and Sales Managers on contract opportunities bids and proposal development.
- Assist sales teams with pricing strategy sales planning and closing complex or high-value opportunities.
- Attend and represent the company at industry trade shows conferences and customer events.
- Coordinate and assist in leading sales meetings at both the manager and team levels.
- Maintain current and in-depth knowledge of company products services and applications within the waterworks market.
- Monitor competitive activity market conditions and customer trends; develop new methods to capture new business and retain existing customers.
- Address escalated customer issues and complaints to ensure timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Extensive travel for in-person meetings with customers partners and internal stakeholders to build and maintain key relationships.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has direct supervisory responsibility for two Waterworks Sales Managers one Waterworks Sales Operations Manager and indirect supervision of Sales and Customer Service Coordinators. Responsibilities include performance management coaching training and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous sales leadership experience within the waterworks municipal or infrastructure markets.
- Experience selling building materials waterworks products underground utilities or related construction or industrial products.
- Proven success managing multi-level sales teams including sales managers and individual contributors.
- Strong understanding of municipal bidding processes contracts and long-term customer relationship management.
- Ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans in competitive relationship-driven markets.
