Principal Data Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Modeler / Data Architect to lead the design development and governance of enterprise-level data models supporting analytics operational reporting and business intelligence initiatives. This role requires deep expertise in data modeling methodologies hands-on experience with Snowflake and dbt solid exposure to cloud platforms and the ability to collaborate directly with stakeholders in a consultative environment. Advanced English proficiency and over 10 years of experience in data-focused roles are required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end data modeling lifecycle including conceptual logical and physical model design.

• Design scalable high-performance data models optimized for Snowflake and modern cloud-based data platforms.

• Develop and maintain analytical data models using dbt applying best practices for transformations testing and documentation.

• Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into robust scalable data solutions.

• Ensure data models effectively support analytics reporting and downstream data consumption while maintaining data quality and consistency.

• Establish and enforce data modeling standards naming conventions and best practices.

• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers Analytics Engineers and BI teams to ensure accurate and efficient model implementation.

• Contribute to architectural discussions related to cloud data platforms (AWS and/or Azure).

• Support data governance lineage and documentation initiatives.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members when needed (leadership experience is a plus).

Required Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in data modeling data architecture or related data roles.

• Strong expertise in data modeling methodologies including dimensional modeling star/snowflake schemas and normalized models.

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake as a cloud data warehouse.

• Proven experience using dbt for data transformations and analytical modeling.

• Experience working within cloud environments such as AWS and/or Azure.

• Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients or business stakeholders.

• Advanced English proficiency (B2 or higher) with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts.

• Strong analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.
