Our client provides high-quality specialist further education and training for young people aged 1625 with learning difficulties and disabilities. Learners are supported to develop communication independence and employability skills helping them transition successfully into adulthood across the North East.
The Role
Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to join their Therapy Team within a specialist further education setting. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic adaptable therapist who is passionate about teamwork service development and delivering best practice.
You will work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary therapy team supporting young adults with cerebral palsy autism spectrum conditions communication and sensory impairments and complex learning needs. The post offers opportunities to shape and develop services to meet the evolving needs of learners within a vibrant and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver highly specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions within a further education setting
Support learners to develop skills that promote independence participation and preparation for adulthood
Contribute to postural management specialist equipment provision and sensory profiling/assessment where appropriate
Work collaboratively with education staff families and the wider multidisciplinary team
Support service development and the delivery of evidence-based practice
Requirements:
HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
Significant experience working with individuals with learning and/or physical disabilities
Experience or interest in postural management specialist equipment sensory profiling or sensory assessments
Strong communication teamwork and organisational skills
